The Central Board of Secondary education releases the official syllabus for each class each year. The latest update with respect to the examinations for classes 11th and 12th is that the board has lifted the pattern of two-term examinations and has returned back to the annual examination pattern. The examinations thus shall be conducted as power the pre-covid norms, usually in the month of March. Hence class 11th will also be prepared in the same manner.

In case you are still choosing the subjects to opt for, there are a few things to keep in mind:

You cannot choose both physics and applied physics. Similarly, you cannot opt for chemistry and applied chemistry or mathematics and applied mathematics together. The affiliated schools can’t offer business studies and business administration or accountancy and cost accounting simultaneously as well. Students can only opt for one out of Computer Science and Information Technology.

How many subjects are there in class 11th?

As per the latest guidelines by the CBSE, a student of class 11th will have to study 6 subjects.

What is the difference between English Core and English Elective?

English core provides you the basic knowledge of the language, the grammar, and the literature, whereas the Elective gives you rather more specialized knowledge of the subject.

Are electives compulsory or optional?

Electives are those subjects that you get to choose. They are not compulsory and you will be provided with a list of subjects to choose from.
